Frequently Asked Questions
Starting counseling often brings up questions. The answers below are meant to offer clarity and reassurance as you consider whether therapy is right for you.
Questions You May Have About Therapy
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, or finding it difficult to cope with stress, anxiety, depression, or life changes, therapy may be helpful. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from counseling—many people seek therapy for support, insight, and personal growth.
What issues do you help with?
I work with adults and adolescents (ages 14 and older) who are experiencing stress and anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, relationship challenges, life transitions, and other emotional concerns.
What happens in the first online session?
The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what brought you to counseling, your goals, and what you’re hoping to gain from therapy. There is no pressure to share more than you’re comfortable with—therapy moves at a pace that feels safe and supportive.
Is online counseling effective?
Yes. Research shows that online therapy can be just as effective as in-person counseling for many concerns, including anxiety, depression, and trauma. Many clients find teletherapy to be flexible, accessible, and comfortable.
How long does therapy usually last?
The length of therapy varies based on your goals, needs, and preferences. Some people benefit from short-term counseling, while others choose longer-term support. We’ll regularly check in about your progress and adjust as needed.
What if I don’t know what to talk about?
That’s very common. You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. Your therapist will help guide sessions and explore what feels most important for you.
Who do you work with?
I provide online counseling for adults and adolescents ages 14 and older throughout the state of Texas.
Do you offer in-person counseling?
Presently, Restored Vessel Counseling provides online-only therapy through a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform.
Where are you located?
The practice is based in New Braunfels, Texas, and services are provided via teletherapy to clients anywhere in Texas.
Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?
Yes. Evening and weekend telehealth appointments are available to help accommodate busy schedules.
Do you accept insurance?
Insurance may be accepted when services are billed under my LPC Supervisor. Eligibility and benefits vary by plan.
Why is insurance billed under a supervisor?
As a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in Texas, I practice under supervision. Insurance credentialing and billing are completed under the supervising provider, in accordance with state regulations.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes. Therapy is confidential, with limited exceptions required by law (such as concerns about safety). These limits to confidentiality will be explained clearly during the informed consent process.
What do I need for online therapy?
You’ll need a reliable internet connection, a private space, and a device with video and audio capability (such as a computer, tablet, or smartphone).
What if I’m not sure therapy will help?
It’s normal to feel uncertain. Therapy is a collaborative process, and we’ll work together to determine whether counseling feels helpful and aligned with your goals.
